Our book’s photographs began with something familiar: a flower beside a path, a cluster of leaves in a neighborhood garden, or a bloom I might otherwise have walked past. Looking closer revealed another view—folded petals, unexpected colors, intricate patterns and details that gave each subject its character.
I made these photographs across Northern California, especially in the Greater Sacramento region. The collection follows the eye from individual blossoms to generous clusters, then into the structures and leaves that grow beyond flowering.
This is an invitation to slow down and look more closely. Each photograph celebrates their unique beauty. Together, this collection of photographs presents the quiet and beautiful detail of seeing these blooms up close.
